You don't need a plan.

You need permission to PLAY.

52 free painting prompts to help you stop planning and start playing. No right way to do it—just you, your paint, and permission to PLAY and let your art surprise you.

More than Playing Cards

These started as my own notecards — little nudges I kept by my easel for the days I sat down to paint and felt stuck before I'd even begun. Paint-smudged and just mine for a long time. Now they're yours.

They're a permission slip to create freely on the canvas. Pull a card and see if it sparks something. If it does, follow it. If it doesn't, put it back and pull another. There's no wrong one, and nothing here you have to do. They're an invitation, not instructions.

Two ways to PLAY

Pull a single card when you want a nudge, or draw one from each category to move through a whole creative session.

PICK A CARD, ANY CARD

Shuffle and pull one, or flip through and choose the card that calls to you. Read the prompt, take a breath, and trust what arises in you. Use it as a warm-up, when you need a nudge or to help guide your way through a stuck moment... whenever you want to drop back into your creative flow.

PICK 4 - 1 FROM EACH CATEGORY

Draw one card from each category, in order, and let them carry you through a full session — from arriving, to loosening up, to expressing, to finding your way through the messy middle:

The 4 categories were designed to lead you through the full arc of a painting session from arriving, to loosening up, to expressing, to finding your way through the messy middle:

4 categories

Mindful Moments · Establish the connection

Arrive. Take a few breaths, light a candle, check in with your body, or pick colors that match your mood, write words of intention.

Pure Play · Cultivate more JOY

Loosen up and make a mess. Set a timer and don't stop, flip the canvas upside down, paint with your fingers, dance your brush across the page, move your body.

Expressive Expression · Emotional storytelling

Put what you're feeling on the surface. Scribble words and paint over them, etch a single word into wet paint, turn a memory into color, let go.

Process Progress · Push past the mess to discovery

Move through the messy middle. Step back with fresh eyes, scrape back a layer to see what's hiding underneath, bring in a calm neutral, or find the one part that's working and build from there.

"Letting go of Perfectionism was so key in finding my own style"

Meet Tish

I'm an acrylic painter, expressive art guide, and the heart behind Create2Breathe™.

For over 15 years, I've explored painting as a way to connect: with color, with feeling, and with the deeper parts of my spirit that words can't always reach.

My process is intuitive, playful, and emotionally rich. I believe creativity is a form of self-care, one that helps us breathe a little deeper and experience MORE JOY.

Through my art and classes, I help other creatives let go of overthinking, rediscover the joy of painting, and create from a place of presence, PLAY, and inner trust.
